FOTR Friends of Te Tātua a Riukiuta (Big King)

Haere mai, welcome to the trapping network of FOTR - Friends of Te Tātua a Riukiuta. FOTR and Urban Ark are working together to support communities surrounding Te Tātua a Riukiuta that whakapapa this maunga.

The last standing maunga of the three kings that erupted some 28,500 years ago is Te Tātua a Riukiuta. We welcome you to join us by collecting a rat trap supplied by Urban Ark in a child and pet-safe box for your backyard. Residents in the halo network can also borrow a possum trap and help themselves to invasive weed guides we have available. Please just get in touch.

The halo network not only surrounds our maunga but also a critically endangered Pūriri forest. This forest is a broadleaf forest that occurs in frost-free areas on fertile soils of volcanic origin where in the absence of predators, geckos, pekapeka, and kākā would seek refuge.

We need your help to protect Te Tātua a Riukiuta. Join FOTR's Facebook group today and collect your trap.
