Styx River trapping project

We are a local river care group established in 2002 to develop a 'living laboratory' in PÅ«harakekenui (Styx) River catchment.

We the trustees, volunteers and staff are advocates for maintaining water quality and other values (including drainage, ecology,  landscape, culture, heritage and recreation in the river.

We are passionate about our river and want it to remain clean, healthy, biodiverse, so that it is available for future generations to use and enjoy.

In 2021 we recieved funding from the Ministry for the Environment to carry out restoration and education work in the catchment through to 2026. As part of this we have set up a trap library from our field base so that local landowners can borrow traps and get information to start their predator control efforts.
